Presenter Information

Oral Presentations

Talk Time:

All presentation slots are 15 minutes total, including the time it takes for you to be introduced and to answer any questions. It may be beneficial to plan your slide presentation for no more than 12 minutes, so that you will have time for everything. Unfortunately, we have a tight schedule and will not be able to give you more time before or after your presentation slot.

Uploading Your Slides:

Having everyone upload their slides ahead of time enables everyone to use the full 15 minutes for their presentation. Please bring your presentation materials to the meeting on a flash drive to upload in the Speaker Ready Room. You must upload your presentation at least 1 hour before the start of your session. Please bring all media files with you when you upload your talk, even if you have embedded them.

Slide Format:

We can accommodate presentations made on a Mac, PC or Linux machine, including most major file types, such as PowerPoint, Acrobat, Keynote, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, Prezi, Google Docs and more. There are no limits on file sizes, either for the presentation or media files.

The HD projectors will use wide format (16x9), so 16:9 format is highly recommended. Your slides will appear in their entirety regardless of aspect ratio. If your slides are 4:3, there will simply be black bars to either side of your slides as they will not fill the entire screen.

In the session room you will not be able to use your own laptop during your presentation. Instead, you will have access to a confidence monitor, an LCD projector, a wireless remote, and a laser pointer. The Speaker Ready room will have an exact copy of the tech session set up where you can practice your presentation.

Posters hang for the entire day. Please hang your poster sometime before 8:30 am of the day of your session and remove it sometime after the final poster viewing time. SSA is creating extra viewing time for posters this year.

When you get to the meeting, you will be asked to post a notice at your poster as to what specific time(s) you will be at the poster site to discuss it with others.
